Outside of my comfort zone

So I have done a few things today outside of my quilting comfort zone. This is part of my quilting goals. They don't mean physical sewing at the moment, but they will.

I will discuss later, if things happen favourably. And if they don't, well, I'll just have to modify my idea.

It feels good to venture outside of that safe zone. Put myself out there.

Have you done any of that lately?

  1. Oh my goodness yes! I joined a Quilting Bee and was asked to do a paper pieced block. I was scared to death, but after doing that block I am hooked! So glad that I decided to meat the challenge.

Good luck. It is good to step outside the line of comfort every now and then. You might just discover something new you like!

  2. Please discuss regardless of the outcome! It's all learning, so it's all exciting.

I'm still inexperienced enough that only the very basics are comfortable for me, but I do have plans to do some new things this year, notably applique and free-motion quilting.

  3. Three cheers for trying something new!!

Im attempting to do a color wheel quilt and the idea of getting the colors 'right' scares me!

    Best of luck!

  4. Can't wait to watch your creative process in action. I was working on some challenges yesterday. My creative problem is procrastination. I tend to wait until the challenges have to be done now or forgotten (all due around 1 March). I could stay in my comfort zone and sew charity quilts over and over...but those deadlines tend to spur me into action.

  6. I was asked to join a quilting bee and I did. The other women are so amazing and I am so scared. Plus they are all American and I am the only Canadian so they have already received and shown their blocks and I have yet to receive the fabric. I feel more pressure after seeing the incredible creations.
