Shadow Leaves Quilt - finished

Hooray, it's finished!  Well, except for binding...
Shadow Leaves fabric by Cynthia Coulter
Pattern -  my own wing it design that had been re-worked about 4 times...

Used a pantograph to quilt this -  it's an older one, called 'Garden'

I actually did borders!   I haven't done borders for a very very long time...

Glide thread on top, bottom line on bottom.... Hobbs 80/20 batting.

Not fond of the hobbs batting...it was quite stretchy and thin in some spots?  quite the opposite of what I have heard...

  1. It looks amazing!

  2. You did a fantastic job . I love it.

Isnt it interesting that we all have our favourite preference when it comes to batting. I havent heard of Hobbs but Im a huge fan of Warm and Natural.

  3. I look forward to seeing it in person tomorrow! Its beautiful in the pictures.

  4. I don't like Hobbs 80/20 either. Much prefer Quilters Dream.

  5. Millie is really working out well! I don't like Hobbs either. I use Quilters Dream also.

  6. What a lovely work of art; you have reason to be very proud of this piece. I look forward to seeing it with the binding in place.

  7. Cool quilt! I love anything with leaves in the design:)
I HATE Hobbs batting...its uneven, feels awful and tends to poke out the back a lot!!
    Love Quilters Dream batting.

  8. DId you do a dance of joy when you finished it?? :-) yay - a long-armed quilt by Andrea!

I can't remember if I've ever used Hobbs. I usually buy the cotton/bamboo blend or cotton/soy at my local quilt shop but it comes off the roll and I have no idea as to the manufacturer. It's really good batting though, a decent price, and both wash beautifully.

  9. I'm visiting from Cindy's blog. Your work is beautiful and I love your quilting style.
